"Tonight, I am going to discuss swimming at Moraine State Park. Moraine State Park is located off route 422.

It is situated between Butler and New Castle.

There are 2 beaches for swimming, south shore and Lakeview Beach on the north shore. As of 9/6/16, Lakeview Beach is opened for swimming. Concessions are available Memorial Day to Labor Day. There are restrooms and stalls for changing. Parking is ample. Lakeview has a long strip of sand.

South shore beach is grass with a large sandbox at one end. There is a playground at the other end of the beach at the south shore. A paved path leads down a hill to Lakeview Beach so you might want to consider how many items you want to lug to the beach.

I prefer Lakeview Beach because it is more scenic and the water isn't as stagnant. Just because it's September doesn't mean you still can't enjoy the beach. The weather is still lovely. I had my inner tube in the water at Lakeview Beach. It was a relaxing float. Crowds are light in September. If you have kids who aren't in school yet, this time of year is ideal. Butler County is very fortunate to have Moraine State Park.

Questions regarding beach conditions can be asked by calling 724-368-8811."
